Zagreb – City of Romance

Zagreb is a beautiful city for a romantic break and/or a wedding, it can inflame your romance with its twisting and intriguing streets. But, also, this  Croatian capital has a great vibe, lots of parks, historical sites, good nightlife and vibrant restaurant scene. Take a stroll at Zagreb Upper Town and find your solitary kissing spot between gas street lamps that are hand lit every evening. Numerous parks and a 900-year old city offer endless opportunities for romantic walks. We had a couple that got married in Zagreb a couple of months ago and the best way for us to show you how romantic it can be is with photos taken by Mihoci studios. The 13th-century St Mark’s Church is one of Zagreb’s most emblematic buildings. Its colourful tiled roof, constructed in 1880, has the medieval coat of arms of Croatia, Dalmatia and Slavonia on the left side, and the emblem of Zagreb on the right. The Gothic portal, composed of 15 figures in shallow niches, was sculpted in the 14th century: At the back you can see Zagreb Cathedral – the most stylish and most eloquent architectural realization church architecture of the Gothic style southeast of the Alps. They said ”I do!”:.

Carling and Samuel: SPLIT ELOPEMENT

There’s something so romantic about a beach elopement in Croatia.  It’s intimate, it’s all about you as the couple and the love your share for one another.  On the last Thursday of August, Carling and Samuel, young couple from Canada said ‘’I do’’ to each other in the park in city of Split, overlooking the Adriatic Sea. It was a beautiful and touching ceremony. That Thursday morning, we got up on a boat in Split, together with our hairdresser and make-up artist while carrying a freshly arranged wedding bouquet. It had to be fresh and untacked until Carling sees it. All of her favorite flowers were inside, and we couldn’t stop admiring her sense of style when she showed us what she wants. So simple and so classy. Sun was shining, weather was amazing, and the temperature did not rise up high as it does usually in August in Croatia. So, while listening to the splash of waves while approaching the shore we knew – this wedding is going to be special.  And it was. Carling and Samuel stayed at Brown Beach House where all the preparation for the photo shooting and ceremony has been done.  We guess you can’t wait to see how it all looked like? Iva and Vedran did some amazing Photos of that day so let’s have a look: The young couple has been transferred with a speed boat to city of Split where they did a photo shooting while having a relaxed city walk. Antique Chevrolet was their carriage to the wedding location. It was such a pleasure riding in that beauty. The ceremony was held in Park Marjan overlooking the sea and the city of Split. You see – simple but classy. We told you it was going to be perfect;) After the car drove them back to Brown Beach Hotel for a romantic dinner we went to sum up the day over a glass of vine and some food. It is a sad truth that the wedding planners forget about the water and food until its all over. We don’t know why, maybe because we care to much. But you know all the hard work and caring and thinking about hundreds things in the same time is worth it. Why you ask? Because of the texts like this: ”We couldn’t have asked for a better group of ladies to plan our wedding day! Leaving every detail in their capable hands, we were able to enjoy every moment of our wedding day with no cares in the world! Even though we were on the other side of the world, their planning and communication was amazing!!!” – Carling and Samuel more …

9 REASONS TO GET MARRIED IN CROATIA

Croatia is fast becoming a leading wedding destination and for good reason – its historical cities, vibrant culture, breathtaking coastline and fairytale islands make it a gorgeous location to hold a wedding abroad. Its natural beauty however, is just one of the many reasons why so many couples are choosing to marry here. To find out a little more, we are sharing the article we wrote for Weddings Abroad Guide to give you some inside information and provide  “Nine Top Reasons” why you should get married in Croatia. Viktor Pravdica Photography www.viktorpravdica.com With so many wonderful wedding locations, no official residency requirements and an established destination wedding industry, Croatia is an attractive choice for destination wedding couples. So what are the other key factors which make it such a popular choice? WHY GET MARRIED IN CROATIA? Easy to travel to from the UK and Ireland on low cost airlines Mediterranean climate with over 2300 hours of sun a year Offers excellent value for money By western standards the cities are safe at night Extremely clean tourist resorts It has the WOW effect Offers culinary delights and great wine English is widely spoken in the cities A destination Wedding Industry with a proven track record Sanja Jagatic Photography 1) GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION Croatia is famous for its natural beauty. It is blessed with one of the most beautiful coastlines in Europe, 1,777.3 km long and 1,246 islands and islets with crystal clear sea and extraordinary beaches. It has breathtaking national and nature parks, beautiful rivers and lakes, as well as charming highlands.  And… with so many spectacular wedding venues spread throughout these locations, it’s easy to see why so many couples are seduced by its beauty and choose to get married in Croatia. 2) CLIMATE An ideal wedding needs an ideal weather. Croatia has plenty of sunny days. The Adriatic coast has a Mediterranean climate that has cool, rainy winters and hot, dry summers. With over 2300 hours of sunshine yearly and warm water in the Adriatic Sea, Croatia gives you the possibility of beautiful weather on the coast throughout the whole year. If you are planning to get married in Croatia, the best dates are between April and October (June and September are great for milder weather and less crowds). 3) IT’S AFFORDABLE Like getting married at home, your budget will depend on many variable factors; the region you would like to get married in, the time of year of your wedding, the number of guests attending, your personal tastes … the list really goes on and on! Although Croatia is still cheaper than many other European countries such as the UK, France or Italy, do not expect to have a full wedding for pennies. However, what comes as standard are breathtaking and luxury ceremony and reception venues (near the crystal clear sea), delicious haute cuisine, amazing wine and the summer breeze! To find out more about what it will cost you to get married in Croatia click here. On our page you’ll find more packages according to theme. 4) IT’S SAFE Croatia is generally safe and the usual precautions are quite sufficient in Croatia where street crime is relatively low and violent crime is rare indeed. Foreigners are not targeted for crime but of course it makes sense to watch your belongings in public places, especially train and bus stations in major cities. By western standards, Croatia’s streets are relatively safe at night, even in the cities. Croatia is a very friendly and open nation, making it another good reason to get married in Croatia. 5) IT’S CLEAN Croatia is the cleanest tourist place you will ever visit! Beautiful, clean, stylish—those adjectives all sum up Croatia. Oh and did we mention the tap water is safe everywhere? 6) IT HAS THE WOW EFFECT Croatia has 340 protected historic entities and a whole series of individual historic buildings, churches and chapels, fortresses and castles, manors and palaces and archaeological sites. It has become a huge festival destination over the last couple of years. Ultra festival, Hideout, Electric elephant, Fresh island, Soundwave, Sonus, Dimensions, Outlook – some of them could be a nice intro to your wedding or a bachelorette party / hens night out! And with all the festivals, film events, music events, folklore events and carnivals, yacht parties and cocktails  – your wedding can become an adventure your guests will never forget. Can you imagine uploading the photos from your wedding on Instagram and creating a gallery of breathtaking locations with crystal clear turquoise water surrounding them? Okay, it does sound a bit cheesy but admit it, you would not mind some envy from your fans! 7) FOOD You cannot go wrong with Croatia’s gastronomic delights. Fresh Adriatic fish and seafood combined with homegrown vegetables and fruits – dishes with perfectly balanced Mediterranean food spices result in premium food for your wedding menu. And wine? White, red or rosé – Croatian wines belong to some of the best wines in the world! Want to hear some more? Stay tuned because we are going to write a bit more about our delicious food on our blog. 8)  YES, WE DO SPEAK ENGLISH Ease of communication is key when planning a wedding abroad. You want to ensure that your thoughts, ideas and instructions are not “lost in  translation”. English is widely spoken especially on the coast  where you are unlikely to experience any language problems. You may find it spoken a little less in the interior, but Croatian people are kind and helpful. 9) EXPERIENCED WEDDING PROFESSIONALS Dreamtime Events Croatia is an international team of professional creative event planners. Our diverse staff, having lived and worked in Australia, Canada and Croatia has over 30 years of experience in creating stylish, memorable, and of course, fun weddings and events. Word from our bride – island wedding

Having happy clients that we call friends is our mission. Every client is our ONLY client, and every client becomes our friend.  Why? Because their happiest day in their life depends on us. It depends on our positive approach, genius ideas and calmness in stressful situations. It also depends on our expertise – we have over 30 years of experience in creating stylish, memorable, and of course, fun weddings and events. Let’s stop bragging about ourselves, here is a review letter from our dear friend (not just a client)  – Michelle Rowsell: ,,It’s hard to know where to begin. I can only say with complete certainty and conviction that our wedding day would not have been what it was without Dreamtime. Our wedding planner, with her wealth of experience and connections here in Croatia, made planning our wedding an absolute dream and we couldn’t have done it without her! Originally from Jersey Channel Island and a Londoner for 10 years, I met my now husband on a cruise ship 7 years ago when I was singing within the theatre company onboard P&O’s Artemis. After a few years together I made the move over to Split to build a new life in his home town. Although I gave up my sea legs, he still works for the same company and is away for 3 months at a time. Inevitably we knew that the majority of the wedding planning would be on my shoulders and that a lot of our big decisions would be made remotely via email. Not an ideal situation and one that called for some real guidance! Enter the professionals… As soon as we reserved our date I contacted Dreamtime in the hope that they could recommend a planner from their books and point out the next step.I was assigned to the perfect planner who understood our style and vibe from the get go. She advised and gave direction every step of the way, not missing a beat. She was always responsive to my emails or phone calls and if I went quiet for a few weeks she gave me the gentle nudge that I needed to make sure all the planning was on track. I know that my family back in Jersey especially appreciated that I’d found someone to help me in Split, that I could wholeheartedly trust with our day…(They know that I can be a perfectionist and I notice the smallest of details!) The English say that a picture is worth a thousand words so I will let our photos do the talking ( they were taken by Viktor Pravdica Photography) . We felt completely relaxed on the day, filled with love and laughter. This was massively down to the expertise of Dreamtime and their planner who I will forever refer to as my “dobra vila” * Thank you so much Dreamtime! You went above and beyond our expectations and you helped create our perfect day! * Croatian for Fairy Godmother! The photographer: Viktor Pravdica Photography
